Veral Hithaway announced candidacy for sheriff in next primaries. O'Conner returned from New York reporting east weather and coal shortages. Pioneer Club met with Mrs. Waller Engle hosting. Fayette druggists limited Monday sales to essentials. Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker to Los Angeles for winter. Robert Carnes and daughter Ethel to join them. William Schlemann of Valparaiso planned Florida winter but will stay local.

Snow Clearances Ordered for Walks by Town Board

The Town Board requires property owners and tenants to remove all snow from full width and length of walks by 8:30 each morning. Vacant lots must comply. Noncompliance leads to snow removal at owner expense charged by the clerk treasurer. Order effective from publication date January 1918. Also note about Pert Overman as street commissioner and an entertainment notice for Stuart doorg with “Reaching The Goal.”

Monon Discontinues Mixed Train Service

The Monon has discontinued the mixed accommodation train on this division. No restoration date is known as coal trains have priority and engines are now pulling coal drags. The Chicago and Indianapolis mails are delayed, reaching late enough that distribution occurs the next day.

Former Lafayette resident dies from boiler burns at Barbee Wire Works

Jacob Frohr a former Lafayette resident died at St Elizabeth's hospital after suffering severe burns while cleaning a boiler at Barbee Wire Works. His daughter Miss Groces Frohr of the place joined him at the hospital as he succumbed to his injuries.

Farmers Institute Meeting Moved Up to Saturday

Weather delays shift the Farmers Institute Workers meeting to next Saturday afternoon at 2 30 at the library.
