The Pythian Sister lodge elected officers last Friday evening with Stella Goble as excellent chief and Ada Shumaker as protector. Francesville notes revival meetings led by Rev. W Il. Less and reports of local illnesses and obituaries. Melvin Rodgers died aged 82 in Marion from pneumonia and diphtheria. Mrs Ira Williamson underwent appendicitis surgery at Hope hospital.

Notable performances included John Willett as the young architect, Virg Coffell as Shiny, Ira Shaffer as Aniog North, Donwded Boulden, Orland Rhinehart, Miss Gladys Pearson, Nina Myers, Wanda Carroll, Opal Taylor, Audra Garrigues, Mabel Werner, Florence Watson, Mildred Brenneman and Helen Shirtin. Miss Opal Taylor directed, Francesville orchestra provided music, gross receipts were 90.40. The Pythian Sisters met for crochet and refreshments at Mrs. Edward Delamere’s home. Oranges advertised for sale.

Last night the city council held a routine session and approved a 700 appropriation for the City band for the year 1917. Found items include a pair of rim glasses and assorted bakery and grocery notes from local stores Werner's and Jones'.

He noted new advertisers and improved methods, stressing the value of timely ads and addressing readers as informed shoppers rather than susceptible to hype. Legislative committees in Indiana townships push a bill to raise trustee pay based on population. About 900 rural trustees now earn 2 dollars a day. the proposal would create 16 classes and raise salaries while not affecting higher paid positions.
The 1916 senior class donated two sectional book cases and ordered new books funded by last year's high school play receipts. Students prepare for county Yelling contests in March while amid lagrippe absences. The Manual Training class finishes recitation chairs and the parliamentary drill continues Mondays. Salem township teachers institute met at the high school with another session planned. The senior class works to support the lecture course funding.
A civil service examination is set for February 10 in Rensselaer to fill a McCoysburg postmaster vacancy, unless reinstatement serves the post. The annual compensation is $259. Applicants must reside in the local territory and be 21 or older for men, 18 or older for women. Applications available from the McCoysburg postmaster.
Doctors Sharrer and Sharrer announce a costly, modern X ray machine at Hope hospital to enable comprehensive examinations. The town notes include John F. Sisson's recent internal injury operation at St Anthony's in Michigan City and local residents' movements and social visits with the Kopka family planning a move to Charles Kaupke’s farm by February 1.
