Town dissolves school board amid debtless, small-town action

The town board dissolved the local school board Tuesday night as a final settlement of the board troubles. Deeds were issued to township trustee J. A. Clark and funds will be settled with the County Auditor before returning to the township school fund. A restraining order was possible but no action was known at press time.

Commissioners Deny Bond Claim Over Gravel Roads

D H Fatout of Indianapolis claimed 600 to 700 dollars for road parts he says he built beyond specifications. The board rejected the petition to issue bonds to cover the claim, noting he bid a fixed price and bonded work per specs. Taxpayers praised the decision as it curbs payment for inferior gravel.

Two State Cases in Winamac Court Against Tilton

W H Tilton of Medaryville faced two state court cases in Squire Graves' court at Winamac. John H Kruger of Francesville testified in the assault case. Tilton was fined 52.20 including costs after pleading not guilty. In the second case James S Lackey of Medaryville testified. Tilton pleaded guilty and was fined 34.45, totaling 91.85. The incident began last Wednesday in Medaryville when Tilton struck Kruger, who fell onto a railroad track.

B F Shively of South Bend declared Saturday at Democratic headquarters in Indianapolis that he will again seek Congress. He previously ran in 1906 and was defeated but earned Republican endorsements for his record as a statesman. He denounces boss politics and calls for reform, warning of post office and rural route influence used to fund opponents.
