Rensselaer Doctor Shot by Deranged Son

In Rensselaer Dr Ira B Washburn a prominent physician was shot in his parlor by Joseph Marshall oldest son of Atty Ralph Marshall of the town. The young man a former Philippines Army veteran fled and was later found in a cemetery in a terror stricken condition. His actions stem from a deranged mind and hatred for army officers. Also reported Medaryville man Otto Dumpke found dead along Clover Leaf tracks near Frankfort in a mutilated condition. Foul play suspected as pocket book contained little cash and evidence aimed to destroy clues. Funeral held at German Lutheran church with burial in church cemetery.

Air Line survey shifts toward Indiana towns for electric route

Indiana surveyors for the Indianapolis and Chicago Traction Company advance toward Stoutsburg in Jasper county with plans for an electric line from Lafayette to Chicago. Jno A Shafer, chief engineer, notes temporary town alignments with potential changes. the line would cut past Francesville and connect with the Gifford railroad, aiming for Chicago while controlling regional passenger traffic. Mrs Cyrus Ball and son Merl travel to Marion after a telegram reports her brother's serious illness.
