Mortgaged landowners urged to file exemptions by April end
Land owners with mortgages must file exemptions at the auditors office by the last of April. Each year’s filing matters even if mortgage amount stays the same. The mortgager may receive a reduction in appraisal up to 700 dollars. Exemptions require names and residences of both parties, land description, and mortgage record and page, sworn before a notary and filed with the county Auditor. Mortgages recorded after March 1 are not eligible this year.
