Wrecked Sailors Rescued After Night Aboard Schooner

In Michigan at Masiatex on September crews from the schooner RK Walliame, foundered near Green Bay, were rescued by the yacht Usoe near Big Sumner Island. Six crew members and a dog abandoned ship at 7 PM Monday, endured a night without food or shelter, and reached Big Summer Island at 6:30 AM today. They lost everything on the voyage.

Coke Workers' Convention Orders Return to Work

A stenographic report from Stovrapane Pennsylvania dated September 24 notes the regional coke strike failed to materialize with only the McClure coke plant at Lemont on strike and Stewart Trap plant shut due to water shortages. Fort Wayne Driving Park racing meets third day

The Fort Wayne Driving Park hosts a brisk third day of racing with warmer weather and rising interest. Highlights include 214 trot with Lady Egberts winning first heat and Baron Rogers taking multiple heats. Nightingale and Dandy Jim noted in Nightingale and Dandy Jim events. Trance Hurts Girl at Wake as Family Watches

Bernadette Demarais, 17, remains in a trance at her parents home during the wake for Molas Bt Donis. A physician cannot restore consciousness as attendants chant prayers and plead for the dead. The teen later awakes briefly, then returns to trance, with symptoms including rigid limbs and unblinking eyes. Her mother fears a foretold frightful event.

The Young Women’s Christian Association in Fort Wayne celebrated the formal opening of its new two story brick home on West Washington Street. More than 200 attendees heard Miss Morita Longland outline the association’s aims to promote evangelical religion, education, social and physical well being for young women. The organization rents rooms, offers noon meals, and runs courses in arithmetic, composition, languages, music, and Bible study, with a focus on building a durable Christian home.

Insane man escapes from county infirmary

James M. Carter, confined at the county infirmary, escaped his cell last night by breaking an iron bed and door, then helped another inmate flee. He looted Charles Strock’s saloon stealing two boxes of cigars and eight quarts of whisky before being recaptured and returned to the infirmary. Authorities say he is dangerously violent and may need county jail confinement. fifteen insane patients are at the infirmary and funds for Richmond are exhausted.

Appointment of Mr Prevey to Central Office Charge

The city will engage Mr Prevey for one year to lead the central office in the city building with twenty eight permanent secretaries. The office opens October set and will conduct work vigorously and thoroughly. The relation of Mr Prevey to take charge is described as good.

Laundry Fire at West Blaine Street Laundry Damages Stock

A blaze started in a bundle of waste paper near a vest in J Maten's laundry at 46 West Blaine street. Firefighters halted the blaze before it spread to the second floor stock room of a Calhoun street waist factory, with about 300 to 6000 dollars in losses. Twelve girls worked there. one, Miss Kya Stohol, fainted after escaping. The building suffered around 150 dollars in damage and was insured for 1750 totaling insured coverage across multiple companies.
