Hayes and Grant era critique in a mass political pamphlet
A long, hostile retrospective attacks Ulysses Grant and his administration. It accuses Grant of official corruption, mismanagement, and economic folly, praising Hayes and Tilden while detailing alleged schemes such as the San Domingo bargain, Wall Street manipulation, and patronage rings. The piece argues for reform, civil service changes, and tax policy shifts. It cites notable figures and events to cast the Grant era as corrupt and self-serving.
