Judge Allen G Thurman and kin sailed for New York and Newark for meetings this week. Reports note a grand reception in Hagniszuna and Salisbury area towns with speeches praising Thurman and President Cleveland.
Outcry runs through Lake Shore and Michigan Southern line operators as rumors claim the railroad seeks to quit employing members of the Order of Railway Telegraphers or force resignations. Western Union says it has no knowledge of such an order and would only ensure proper work and accounting. Chicago branch officials decline comment.

A quartet of male voices accompanies him, singing altered music from his The Pilgrime collection, described as full of good teaching.
Mr Long and his singers The Pilgrims perform in Quincy through Thursday. He has stopped speaking in churches as he could not secure the audience he desired and now aims to address boys and young men who do not hear the preacher.
Captain Ryan of the schooner A. D. Story reports a severe April storm off Iceland's south coast. Six vessels and their crews were engulfed and one more ship was lost with its captain and three men. Estimated fatalities total 187.

Thomas Stevens of Monroeville files in superior court on Friday to recover 100000 from Charles A. Will Jacob Cassady Martin Randell Uriah H. Stewart Joseph Davis Charles Meyers O. A. Harvey D. B. Johnson John D. Allegar and A. Barkley alleging in 1886 Cassady had him adjudged insane and deprived him of liberty. Once a banker and editor of the Monroeville Breese, Stevens’ condition followed a downslide, though disability was later dissolved. The outcome of this new claim remains undetermined.

James Maloney a Western Union line repairer was working atop a telegraph pole along the Pittsburg track near the fair grounds when the pole broke and toppled him to the ground. He was rushed by switch engine to the Diamond hotel for medical care with severe bruises and internal injuries expected to keep him bedridden for some time.
Srymore Ind Sept 5 Miss Lizzie Todd an amiable nineteen year old girl swallowed poison in a fit of despair over a lover's slight when a neighbor who had shown devotion to her escorted another girl to church on Sunday. The act ended her life.
Last Saturday at Olds wheel works Clarence Lehman, an employee, suffered a severe hand injury while operating machinery. He was taken to City hospital where two fingers were amputated.
Last Wednesday at the bride's home the marriage of Mr. Thomas Greer Jr and Miss Olive Edith Fairfield took place. Olive is the daughter of Mr. James Pairfield and the couple reside at No 254 Broadway in a pleasant cottage. Mr. Greer is a son of Mr. Thomas Greer of Pleasant township and regarded as a bright young man.

Noewton Conn Sept 6 Colonel George L Perkins longtime treasurer of the Norwich and Worcester railroad died of old age at Fort Griswold house Graton while with his family on annual vacation He had voted for every president since Madison served as paymaster in the war of 1812 and organized Norwich's first Sunday school He was 100 years and one month old
In Frouar Ohio creditors of the New York Mahoning and Western railroad filed more than thirty suits seeking over $100,000. The company, unable to sell bonds in New York, is drifting toward receivership as creditors press for payment.

Sr Louis Sept 6 Col Edward G Butler the oldest West Point graduate is dead aged eighty two years. He served with honor and his death marks the end of a long military career. Butler attended the academy before Civil War era and remained a respected figure in veteran circles. His passing draws attention to his long life of service and contributions to the military community.
Sept 6 report from Eurenpauz notes the Goulette and Letson threshing crew experienced a boiler blast last night. Ten to twelve men worked nearby and eight were killed or badly injured. Authorities described a deadly accident at the threshing site with multiple casualties.
After an illness of twenty weeks Miss May Hover daughter of photographer J Hover died last Thursday. The fever led to dropsy after a sequence of complications and she passed away surrounded by family and friends. Her bright life and gentle disposition were deeply mourned by all who knew her.
Gaius Wilson of the firm G Wilson & Bro died last Thursday after a year of lung trouble at his brother’s home 238 Creighton Ave. A successful businessman with substantial property he leaves no family but many mourn his loss. Remains to be buried in Cleveland.
