James A. Wallis claimed Fort Wayne residence but was arrested in Lockport N Y for first degree forgery. He allegedly forged a Chicago coffin firm's signature on notes totaling 600 dollars. Wallis, in custody, pleaded not guilty and was bound over to the November grand jury. his identity in Fort Wayne could not be verified.

Pekin reports the new viceroy Tsen-Chun-Suan says Boxers remain active at Cheng-Tuan and two other centers and urges ministers and missionaries to avoid travel in central Sze-Chuen. A fire at Tucker wood rim works in Urbana Ohio killed Carl Maggert and injured Arthur Maggert and night watchman Charles Maggert. The two boys fleeing from a second story window. Carl died from burns. Plant damage estimated at 50 000 with 35 000 insured.

Doctor fined after assault on tax collector in Toledo

Dr C. O. Fair pleaded guilty to assault and battery after a levy on his personal property by Special Tax Collector Lindley Baldwin led to a scuffle. Baldwin and others testified. Fair paid a $1 fine and costs of $14. The socialist coroner candidate claimed misapplied taxes and questioned the levy.

Dayton Banker Robert C. Schenck Dies in Utica

Had relatives here. Robert C. Schenck, a prominent Dayton banker, died at Utica New York on Wednesday and was a near relative of S A Burrowes of this city. He once held large malleable iron contracts with the Olds Wheel works and Fort Wayne Electric company. Burrowes has gone to Dayton to attend the funeral services.

Fort Wayne Post Office Renovation Set to Start

Work begins at once on extensive improvements to the Fort Wayne post office building under W. H. Hackett of Chicago, chosen on a $900 bid. The project includes interior repainting and redecorating, tile flooring repairs, and a new fence around the grounds. Fort Wayne bidders offered higher figures.

Photographer falsified marriage certificate to divorce wife

In Des Moines Judge McVey found William F. Bueck forged his name and Amanda Williams on a marriage certificate to obtain a divorce from his real wife. Bueck produced 509 forged certificates and used Justice Hamilton of Davenport as a signer. The real Mrs. Bueck testified, urged divorce, and was granted it while Bueck received a one year sentence at Fort Madison.

Lightning Strike Damages Home on Barthold Street

A severe electrical storm struck early Saturday with lightning hitting the residence of F. Bierbaum on Barthold Street. The house suffered considerable damage and the Bierbaum family endured a severe fright. No injuries or fire occurred, but dense sulphurous fumes filled the home for some time after the bolt.

Infant dies suddenly in Fort Wayne area

William Shaffer and wife of 1411 Eliza street awoke at 5 am to find their ten week old infant dead at Gar Creek. Dr. B Clark of New Haven and coroner Dr. W W Barnett investigated. Dr. Clark cited spasms as the probable cause. the child had shown no prior illness though crying spells were noted.

Miss Anna Seeddiemeyer and Dietrich Scheumann married Thursday with Rev. Wrazike officiating at Iberan church. Attendants were Lily Scheumann and Miss Beddiemeyer and Martin Scheumann and Louis Beddinskeyer. Bride wore white silk and carried a bouquet. groomsmen wore white Swits and carried pink carnations. About 500 friends attended a reception at the venue. The couple will live on a farm in Adééns township.
