A jury acquits Molineux in a poisoning case, the defendant is released immediately, and friends give him a standing ovation as he exits. The courtroom crowd reacts with mixed emotions to the swift verdict.
Roland B. Molineux was found not guilty on his second trial for the death of Mrs. Catherine J. Adams. The unanimous verdict came in four minutes after a two hour address by Judge John S. Lambert. Molineux, greeted by his father and lawyer ex-Governor Frank S. Black, faced a crowded corridor scene as crowds cheered outside the Tombs and at his Fort Green place home.
Grand Master F T Hawley states there will be no Chicago switchmen strike while unions report accepted raises. Chicago Great Western, Chicago terminal transfer, and Chicago and Eastern Illinois lines confirm 10 percent gains for switchmen, foremen 14 percent, with high union membership backing. Northern rail lines report similar deals and national scale recognition.
Indianapolis reports Indiana’s total vote last Tuesday reached 590071, down 65894 from two years ago when a governor was elected. The Republican plurality stood at 35564, with minor possible errors in the figures.
The naval recruiting office will reopen in the city from December 1 to 6 to secure enlistments for the United States Navy. Lieutenant Wood was in the city weeks ago on a similar mission and secured a number of enlistments.

Ottie Albrecht, son of Mrs. Sophia Albrecht, fell from a willow tree while pursuing a chipmunk near Elm and Cherry streets in Nebraska. He suffered a crushed skull base and a long gash, was unconscious, and doctors fear for his life. He previously attended the Nebraska school and worked at Knitting mills.
Allen county state representatives Wells Somers and Sheridan won seats on the house floor but delayed seating may have cost prime spots. Wells sits at 27 next to Cravens of Jefferson. Somers at 29 with Cully of Union beside him. Sheridan at 51 behind Somers with McDowell of Wells County nearby. Senator Ulrey also has a seat in the senate chamber under Lt Governor Gilbert.
The auditor's report shows Fort Wayne leads Indiana post offices in revenue growth from 1897 to 1902 with $145,030.97 in gross receipts for 1902. Indianapolis remains above $100,000. Evansville, South Bend, and Terre Haute trail. Fort Wayne also ranks best in expense ratio at 27 percent of gross receipts, well ahead of peers.
Fire crews rushed to Liberty Street at 6:45 AM Monday after an alarm reported a blaze at the Gerberding Ice House. Rubbish flames also swept the area, but the blaze was checked before it could spread.
A local court entry states Justice Fraziceerefined Gash settled a board bill for the sum of $1. The terse note records a minimal civil debt action resolution.

Indianapolis reports discovery of enormous iron ore deposits in Sullivan and nearby counties. Investors including Eli Marvin of Frankfort and W E Steverson and D M Parry, with a U S Army officer, have purchased and leased about 25 000 acres allowing mineral extraction while preserving soil rights. Experts from Birmingham have conducted tests with results to be submitted this week.
Standard Oil representatives began drilling today on leased land near New Haven and within ten feet of a previously abandoned Fort Wayne area well in Allen County. The Hartzell farm well previously produced ten barrels daily for a period, but the field was not considered profitable and the lease lapsed. The Standard Oil company has resumed prospecting in the area to determine oil presence.
Experts say a nearly pure charcoal coal could be used for smelting without coking, enabling large ironmaking savings and giving producers in this region a competitive edge over others that rely on costly coke ovens.
Albert Thomas filed an affidavit against John Monyhan accusing him of stealing a Belgian hare from Thomas. Police hold a warrant. Thomas had sold a hare to Monyhan last week and later recovered a female hare with six or seven nurslings from the Monyhan premises. The hares were butchered or disposed of with various devices. On Monday Thomas swore out the affidavit charging Monyhan with larceny.
New York dispatch reports Bolivian authorities posted proclamations in La Paz declaring the republic in a state of siege amid rumors of Bolivian defeat in Acre and a 2,000-strong Peruvian frontier threat. Dispatches from Manaos and Petropolis allege Rojas surrendered for lack of ammunition and subsequent Bolivian capitulation.
After a careful inspection of the new East River bridge structure burned last night contractors estimate the loss at not more than 1000. They also say the delay in completing the structure will not exceed two months. None of the major cables were damaged.
