Roy Richey known as Shorty, 24, of 2310 Warsaw street, died at the scene when an automobile struck Maples. A. H. Haas, 34, owner of Fred Kreibaum wallpaper and paint at 826 Barr street, suffered serious injuries, while Frank Watchinson, 46, of 6130 Madison street, was only mildly hurt.

Truck Hits Train After Alaples Crash Near Fort Wayne
A eastbound Pennsylvania train struck a slowly moving Overland truck at Alaples, east of Fort Wayne, at 7:25 Friday morning. Driver Haas escaped with minor injuries while Hutchinson and Hans suffered cuts. Hans died immediately, Richey in the rear seat perished. Hans was taken to St Joseph hospital with severe head wounds and facial bruising, Hutchinson later walked home.

Mrs William Kelly and two children of Fort Wayne along with Mr and Mrs Edward Shenefield and Mrs Charles Taylor of North Manchester escaped death when a seven passenger touring car overturned beside the road two miles southeast of Silver Lake. The vehicle struck a wire fence. all but Mrs Schenefield escaped unharmed. The party was en route to Silver Lake. Earlier, Louis Pion of 2303 Spy Run avenue crashed into the Centlivre brewery bottling works on Spy Run avenue, breaking the front axle and lamps.

State Encampment of Indiana National Guard
Notices from Company D I N G state that the Indiana National Guard encampment will be at Fort Harrison Indianapolis from July 18 to August 8. Buried Up to Chest as Sewer Cave-In Traps Workman
Henry Cramer of 816 Colerick street was buried up to his chest when a trench for the Federal Security company on Walnut Street caved in at 3 PM Thursday. A nearby passerby alerted others, and he was freed after about twenty minutes. He suffered only scratches and a severe scare and then returned home.

Rubber Boots Save Two From Tragic End
W D Holterman cashier of Fort Wayne Drug company and his son Louis aged 18 escaped a fatal shock after Louis became entangled in a charged wire fence. Holterman rushed to help wearing rubber boots which protected him. Louis suffered slight burns but recovered from the shock.

Left Limb Amputated Below the Knee in 80-Year-Old Doctor
Dr. William T. Ferguson of 222 West Wayne Street underwent major surgery at St. Joseph hospital when his left leg was amputated below the knee by Dr. Maurice Rosenthal and Dr. William Whery following gangrene poisoning. He previously lost the right limb nine years ago and is reported in good condition and cheerful despite his advanced age. The malady is believed to have begun during his army service.

Kent Blair Dies in Phoenix Arizona at 34
Kent Blair, 34, son of Mr and Mrs 8 K Blair of Fort Wayne, died Sunday in Phoenix after relocating there for health reasons. A Fort Wayne native since age two, he was an Elks member and a thirty second degree Mason, active in First Presbyterian. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 in Lima Ohio. remains will go there directly from Phoenix. He is survived by his parents and several siblings.

Despite Fort Wayne losses, Allen County shows a rural gain of two in the school enumeration. Total children under twenty one are 27 839 with 18 773 in Fort Wayne and 9 067 in rural areas. In 1914 Fort Wayne reported 18 927 children and rural districts 9 065. There are 9 366 male and 9 256 female children. 150 are colored. Maumee township was last to report.

Saloon license refused for Gephart on Bluffton road
Charles Gephart did not appear for a hearing on his bid to run a saloon near the Browiway bridge on the Bluffton road. Memorial Services for Moose Lodge Deceased Members
Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon in the Law block home at Washington and Calhoun streets for Moose lodge members. About three hundred attended as sixteen chairs stood vacant, each rose placed on the altar as the roll was read. Avery Groves spoke on the lives of the deceased. music by Val Ewig and Edward Cranston. A. L. Richey, killed by a Pennsylvania train at Maples, was named the last member to die. Funeral services followed at the home of undle, 469 St Martin's street, at 4 o'clock Sunday.

A severe wind storm swept Allen county Saturday night causing extensive damage from St. Joseph to Cedar Creek townships. Hundreds of trees fell, barns collapsed, stock killed or injured, and chimneys blown down. Damage estimated at 200000 dollars with broader losses across northern Indiana. Fort Wayne escaped major harm though nearby farms suffered significant destruction. Local injuries included a man struck by lightning but not seriously hurt.
