Chief Coesse bones may be taken to Whitley county
Columbia City May 14 The Commercial Mail reports that remains of the famed Indian chief Coesse from Whitley county have sparked talks to bury him in Whitley soil. A Roanoke exhumation identified Coesse by Kilsoquah, a cousin, and offers from current possessors to yield remains under conditions. County old settlers plan to meet with Roanoke representatives to arrange burial, possibly on courthouse lawn, in Union township, or in a Columbia City cemetery, with decision likely at the next old settler meeting. Other short items note local incidents and notices.
