Tragic Wabash Track Death of William Woehr Near Fairfield

The twenty two year old William Woehr was found killed on the Wabash tracks west of Fairfield Avenue at 10 40 Tuesday night. His left leg lay in the switch area and his chest head and arms were on the rails. Night yardmaster Dennis Hayes located the body and alerted authorities. Police and Sheriff Stout, coroner Barnett, and Undertaking Peltier were notified. Theories point to No 759 the road engine, but father Frederick Woehr doubts the account noting his son avoided rail work after a prior accident. William lived with his father at 2142 Nelson Street and was a pipe fitter at the Wa bash shops. He was unmarried and had roots in the local Lutheran and White Carnation circle.
