Fire destroys Revere Rubber storehouse on Atwells avenue
Providence May 7. The Revere Rubber company store house on Atwells avenue containing several hundred thousand dollars worth of automobile tires burned this afternoon. The flames spread to the William M. Harris Jr timber yards, which at 2 40 p m were threatened with destruction.

Wreck of Special Train Kills Twelve Near Hattiesburg
At Gunns Mill six miles north of Hattiesburg Mississippi a special reunion train en route to Macon Georgia wrecked killing twelve and injuring many. Five bodies were brought to Hattiesburg and several more are believed under wreckage. The engine baggage car and two sleepers left the track while the remaining cars were turned into morgues and a hospital. Doctors and nurses arrived within thirty minutes to aid the injured and recover the dead with help from surviving crew and passengers. Downing of Atlanta and Locomotive Company was among the dead.

Burglars Take $12,000 in Jewelry From Indianapolis Loan Office
Burglars drilled the safe at the State Loan office on 251 West Washington in Indianapolis early today and carried away jewelry diamonds and watches valued at $12,000 by owner Wolf Sussman. They entered a vacant second floor room and cut a hole through the ceiling to reach the office below. police said the suspects were without a clue.

Ten New Bishops May Be Selected
Minneapolis May 7 That Helena Montana Los Angeles Pittsburgh Detroit and Kansas City probably are the places where Episcopal residences will be established at this session of the general conference of the Methodist Episcopal church. The report on Episcopal residences will be made tomorrow. With four or five new Episcopacies the conference will elect at least ten bishops. One hundred fifty names will be balloted on the first vote and about one hundred may be dropped on the second. The Woman’s Foreign Missionary society reported progress and union with other denominations. The society shows 283 172 members and 3 052 609 in receipts over four years. The China mission reports 142 531 patients treated last year and more Chinese girls pursuing medical training. The revolution in China expands access to new converts and officials, aiding missionaries in India Japan Korea Malaysia the Philippines Africa and South America.

Elevator Boy James Dickinson Crushed In Lafayette Hotel Shaft
In Lafayette Indiana early today James Dickinson an elevator operator was crushed between the car and wall at the top of a shaft after the cage suddenly moved upward. Guests saw the injured man suspended head down by his legs for about half an hour before rescue. Dickinson survived the ordeal but sustained multiple fractures and serious injuries.
