The Ballad of Lydia Love and Nellie Malone
Donnelly and Nellie seek marriage after Nellie is told by Lydia Love in the Evening Gazette that she cannot wed. Nellie’s plea upends the plan, Lydia’s column of advice yields comic chaos, and Donnelly abducts Lydia to settle the match in a New York hallway, ending with their elopement as the Gazette resumes its nightly routine.
