King George and Queen Mary were crowned in Westminster Abbey in a ceremony described as grand and steeped in antiquity. The pageantry highlighted royal authority and national mourning and featured traditional music and formal processions.
King George V and Queen Mary receive royal consecration in Westminster Abbey with medieval pageantry. Tens of thousands line routes to Buckingham Palace as crowds roar and diplomats, nobles, and Americans observe the coronation spectacle.

Board of public works, Mayor Grice, and City Attorney Hogan order plans for opening Clinton and Harrison streets under the Wabash and Pennsylvania tracks. If no agreement is reached by the time limit, the city will pursue condemnation or litigation to force opening, with Pennsylvanian depot plans needing adjustment and Wabash concessions anticipated.
A Berghoff brewery employee named Moss suffered severe injuries Tuesday when his right hand was caught in a cog wheel while on narrow planking near a soaker. The amputation removed the second and third fingers and the tip of the index, with a badly fractured wrist. He was taken to Drs Jas M and J Frank Dinnen at first, then moved to the Lutheran hospital for operation.
John Hughes, injured in a May 28 motorcycle race at Driving Park, shows improvement and can sit up in a wheelchair. Doctors report he remains paralyzed on his left side but hope the paralysis may not be permanent as he regains use of his right arm.
Washington a senate fight over timing blocks July 24 vote on the Canadian reciprocity bill. Sen La Follette objects to reciprocity timing. Bailey says Democrats and insurgent Republicans push wool revision and free list first to lure presidential action. Speculation grows on whether the president will veto or sign if bills are separated.
Washington June 27: After a two year investigation Herbert Knox Smith commissioner of corporations presented an exhaustive steel trust report to President Taft. The findings will be released to the public and given to house committees probing the steel trust to inform their inquiries.
The joint resolution for direct election of U S senators was sent to conference by the Senate. Vice President named Clark, Nelson, and Bacon as conferees.
R. L. Romy William Geake and W. C. Rastetter of this city bought 612 acres near Hoboker Georgia. They plan to plat and sell it in smaller tracts. Geake already owns nearby property. Romy will build a cottage and spend winters on the land in the south.
Co L Biederwolf secretary of the Fort Wayne Commercial club has been named vice president for Indiana of the Central Association of Commercial Club Secretaries. The group includes secretaries from many commercial cities east of the Mississippi river.
Police received a complaint against George H. Jacobs of St Marys avenue and igh street for reckless shooting at cats. Jacobs admitted shooting at cats. witnesses or affidavits may be pursued if false.
Vice Governor Newton W. Gilbert, visiting Fort Wayne with Mrs. Gilbert from Manila, declares no governorship ambitions and says his chief goal is to aid the Philippines. He trains in weight loss, contemplates Manila return via Europe, and weighs independence prospects for Filipinos amid U.S. policy debates.
