Typhoid fever in the city has been checked after weeks of varying intensity. One hundred eight cases occurred at the peak, with 103 in a seven day surge four weeks ago. Authorities attribute the outbreak to river water contaminated by a sewer intake and slough, but say new cases have ceased and health conditions are improving.
At Fortunates in Grown Raping Michigan a crowd gathered on a disused Chicago and West Michigan bridge when the old passenger portion gave way. Fifteen to twenty people fell fifteen feet to rocks below. No deaths. several injured including Michael Devos, John Davon, Eta White, Enos Cap, Henry Himder, Jacob Quint, and E L Bedkman. Ambulances carried injured to hospitals or home.
At the Reformed Church of America synod in Grand Rapids Michigan a dispatch claimed a resolution condemning Sunday bicycle riding to church. Rev D Williamson of this city denied the report saying there was nothing to support the claim and the resolution was actually in opposition.
