Delegates Shot in St Louis Mixup Firefight
In St Louis on June 13 Charles N. Joze a Texas delegate was shot in the right shoulder by Robert W Thiel a 21 year old presumed assailant. Thiel claims he acted believing a robbery attempt was underway as Joze lurched through Garrison and Morgan in confusion seeking his brother's home. Joze’s wound is serious and under medical care.

An old man dying of cancer sheltered in Shelbyville jail died there, aged about 75. Boone county farmers organize a cooperative insurance company with W G Vandever as president, subscriptions totaling 207000. George Hall of Columbus and Gustav Schmidt of Terre Haute were shot and wounded during a store robbery attempt at Cyclone. both sentenced to four years. Frank Brees, a Terre Haute diamond thief, convicted and given nine years, is reported dying of consumption in prison after a daring escape attempt failed. John McGreevy of Richmond was found with a severe head wound in Rushville. he said a stranger in a saloon, who quarrelled with him, struck him with a brick. W H Snyder, head of bicycle payment at Morgan Co, resigned. J O Golf succeeds him.
