In Greanocrin Indiana on June 5 George Logan shot William Fortune four or five times during a quarrel at a barn after escorting his wife to his brother Orange Logan's home. Fortune died at the scene. Logan posted bail for manslaughter. The same night neighbors found Woodward dead at about six in the morning, leaving a suicide note.

Sunday morning in Montpelier Joseph Jellizon a bartender for W W Bonge was nearly killed when a leaking gas in a refrigerator exploded after he lit a match to see inside. He was thrown fifteen feet set ablaze and suffered burns while the blast damaged the cellar wall and front of the refrigerator.
