Strayer Seen in Lima Amid Murder Investigation
Officers believe a clue to Strayer's whereabouts emerged after a railroad worker, once on Strayer's Chicago and Erie crew, said he was in Lima, Ohio last Friday with injuries from a saloon fight and planned to return to Huntington to see his brother. Isaac Reed's son reported Strayer seen at Robert Belton's bottling works but none matched the description. Belton, a longtime friend, advised Strayer to surrender if seen. Willie Wilkinson, son of Judge James Wilkinson, left hospital to visit his father.

Didn't Resign. Vesey Debate Affects Republican Rank Split
The Republican central committee meeting failed to see W. J. Vesey resign. Clark Fairbank was accepted as First ward committeeman. Higgins named as successor. Ed Shellenburger offered Seventh ward seat. no vacancy filled. Vesey did not resign, widening intra party rifts and signaling cross support for Cleveland or Weaver among anti-Harrison factions. Indiana Democrats report unity with strong county organizations except Daviess and Tipton counties where local issues hurt the party.
