The school board at its meeting voted to immediately equip the Washington and James gymnasiums in the Smart Schools program. The move follows plans to supply equipment for the gym facilities.
A man entered the Meyer Brothers drug store at 1424 South Calhoun Street on Monday night and stole a half ounce vial of cocaine. He used some of the drug on the spot, leaving the cash register undisturbed. Police investigate as windows and bars were forced open. Shortest burglary sentence cited is ten years.
Superior Court Justice Bischoff grants final decree in Edna Goodrich Goodwin versus Nat Goodwin. The actor is barred from remarriage during Mrs Goodwin's lifetime.
Lloyd Chrisman and Jacob Winter, field examiners for the state board of accounts, arrived in Auburn July 25 to examine the township trustees books in DeKalb county. The work aims to assess current bookkeeping under the new system. County commissioners met and deferred a $141 bill from the examiners for installing a new bookkeeping system, pending further inquiry.
In Auburn Indiana Charles Kagey will own the Maze Interurban cafe pending Judge Powers consent. The seller Br. Taker, former proprietor, recently died by suicide. The transfer follows a deal with the administrator of the late Aaron S. Baker estate.
Auburn Indiana July 25 The interest on DeKalb county funds on deposit in county banks for May and June totaled 842 17 according to reports to the county commissioners at their meeting Monday.
Reports from over the county indicate Sunday night and Monday winds stripped many apples and pears from trees. The loss from this cause is expected to be considerable.

Telegrams from Fort Wayne report the death of George W Brackenridge 86 at his Los Angeles home. The Fort Wayne pioneer and former Port Wayne resident had moved to California with his wife two or three years earlier to spend time with their son and daughter.
Brackenridge, a Fort Wayne native born in 1825, died in Ontario California. He left a long legacy as an early pioneer and was survived by a widow, son Robert Brackenridge, daughter Mrs Werner Craft, and granddaughter Julia Marie Taylor Wallace Worsley. He had operated a spoke factory and later lived a retired life.

County Superintendent H. G. Felger selected Dr. Becht of Clarion Pennsylvania and Charles H. Albert of Springfield Ohio as principal instructors for the Allen county teachers institute to be held in the city from August 28 to September 1. Dr. Becht, prominent educator and principal of the Pennsylvania State Normal School, will cover pedagogy and psychology while Mr. Albert will focus on the individual elements of teaching. Prof William Miles of this city will oversee the music program.

Cleveland, July 25. Douglas Andrews, 17, of Toledo, died today from injuries after a street car collided with the automobile carrying five youths late last night. Ruth Andrews and Lionel Foley, both of Toledo, and Alfred Horan and Dorothy Stevenson, of unspecified origins, were not seriously injured.
