Three lives lost as ship sinks near Sault Ste Marie
Sault Ste Marie Michigan July 10. Three lives were lost and thirty one people including six women and a boy were rescued after the steamer Joan Mitchell of Chicago sank following a collision with the steamer Wm H Mack of Cleveland off Ver Million Point Lake Superior about sixty miles northwest of Sault Ste Marie. The dead include Archie Causely of Detroit second mate of the Mitchell Al Clements steward Rochester Wisconsin George Austin watchsmith Cleveland. The two ships involved were steel hulled about 490 feet long. Several aboard the Mitchell were saved by the Mack and Mre Clements sustained a broken leg.

Another Heat Wave Victim Dies in City Alley
Thomas Golden, found unconscious in an alley behind 1622 Wass Street Monday morning, died at 10:30 Monday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital. He suffered from heat and alcoholism and had been attending by Dr. M. W. Tinkham. Golden, employed by Olds Coal Co., collapsed after being brought from patrol headquarters. Survived by a widow. Mizpah Temple Nobles of the Mystic Shrine sent a 32-member delegation from Fort Wayne to the Rochester imperial session aboard the Nickell Plate railroad.
