Aveusta Kentucky February 17 Robert Laughlin a prominent farmer near the town was attacked by unknown assailants who stabbed him and burned his wife and his fourteen year old niece in the house. Laughlin escaped and later confessed to being the murderer. officials plan to move him to Mayaville to avert lynching while the case unsettled.
Detectives in Cixcramatt trace Pearl Bryan’s movement from Greencastle Ind to a Newport Kentucky murder site. George H Jackson names Scott Jackson as a participant, outlining a chain of evidence from January 27 to January 31. Suspects Jackson and Walling await transfer after requisition hearing.

Mrs Eliza J Nicholson proprietor of the Picayune died at 8 30 this morning in New Orleans from grippe and lung congestion after her husband’s death a week ago. Born Pearl River Mississippi she was once poet Pearl Rivera and early verse appeared in Home Journal and Lippincott. She rose to manage the Picayune after Col Holbrook and helped shape its success. She leaves two sons, oldest fourteen.
Pirrasure Feb 15 A gasoline blast in the Pullman sleeper Wyndham wrecked the interior and damaged adjacent cars Gita and New England. The three injured are Mrs Laura Fase 50 Sadie Conroy 25 and James Richardson 40 porter of the Cincinnati. Conroy may die from severe burns.
The executive committee of the new Indian Illinois fair circuit has rearranged the dates after some associations dropped out since the Indianapolis meeting. The new circuit runs Bainbridge Aug 37 Terre Haute Aug 1014 Farmer City Aug 1721 Champaign Aug 2528 Lafayette Aug 31 Sept 4 Crawfordsville Sept 711 Indianapolis state fair Sept 1418 Springfield Sept 28 Oct 2 St Louis Oct 510. The change moves Terre Haute to avoid conflict with the Terre Haute Trotting association meeting, reducing local disagreements.
The Morgan line steamer Eldorado, aground near Liberty Ishind in the upper bay, was floated and towed to North River pier. Crews unload cargo onto the Excelsior for immediate sailing as Eldorado awaits dry dock repairs to its propeller after damage to masts and rigging during grounding.

J Jackon was waylaid near the half way house in Miportssvono Ky on Saturday night and shot dead during a robbery attempt. He reportedly carried a large sum of money and could not identify his assailant. no clue is known about the crime.

J A Strathy, manager of the Bank of Commerce in Barrie Ontario, was fatally shot in his home by an unknown assailant who fled. Strathy, a popular local figure, did not survive the wound. Also reported, New York grand jury declines indictments against the Fitzgerald brothers over a murder case. A separate dispatch notes General Cerolas reportedly defeats insurgents in Mata.
The report states that Antonio Maceo and his forces sustained a loss of fifty killed and twelve wounded in the recent fighting with the Lopez Cemor column.

Inpiaxarous Feb 18 Charles Nazworthy assignee of the American Lounge company was removed from trust by Judge Brown and fled. A warrant was issued. later he was found with a fatal pistol wound in his room. The lounge firm reportedly shows about 800 in its funds and Nazworthy was said to be short in other accounts. Nearby Havana reports heavy casualties in recent Spanish clashes. An unrelated notice promotes Dr. Greene by mail consultations for chronic illnesses.
