Manchester reports a deadly explosion at the Sal ford infantry barracks. A boy injured in the blast has died. Two men reportedly left parcels at a beer house, one containing wet mortar and a trowel, the other a possible canister, with the blast occurring about half an hour after their departure.
Philip J. Kreger Jr former bank cashier and school board treasurer shot himself this morning at the Western hotel located at Broadway and Carr streets in Nashville Tennessee authorities reported.

In Pirrasora Pennsylvania on January 14 a brakeman named Thomas Lee died after two freight trains collided at Ever 700 on the Baltimore and Ohio line. Lee was setting a brake between cars on a siding when freight No. 66 was routed onto the same track by an unshifted switch. Engineers and firemen escaped injury by jumping.
