Pamphlet Criticized For Underselling Auburn Population
Auburn residents accuse a Toledo and Chicago interurban pamphlet of understating Auburn’s population and factory employment. The book cites 4000 residents and 625 workers in Auburn firms, omitting dominant local employers like W. E H. McIntyre with 420 workers and listing other plants such as Zimmerman, Auburn Automobile, Eckhart, and the Auburn Foundry. The dispute centers on the city’s true size and industrial employment, which far exceed the pamphlet’s figures.
