Fire at Silver Lake hall kills forty one and injures sixteen
A Christmas festival at Christmas Brothers' hall in Silver Lake Lake county Oregon ended in disaster when a lamp toppled, igniting fast burning oil. Forty one people died and sixteen were injured in the blaze as crowds rushed for the lone exit. The two story building housed Christman Brothers' store in Silver Lake a small village about 150 miles from the nearest telegraph office.

A Belt Line street car collided with P. A. Morans ice wagon at the Main Griffith crossing at 9 30 Friday morning. Ice wagon driver and handler were knocked about but escaped serious harm.
