Mysterious death at county asylum inquest to be held

Coroner Wabb holds an inquest this afternoon on the body of George Rapp who died at the county asylum last night after being found in a lane in an unconscious state. He lived near the asylum and showed no marks of violence. The cause of death remains uncertain with theories ranging from spasms to foul play.

Public Meeting at Fort Wayne Court House on Swinney Park Debt

Inquest to Determine Cause of Death of 21-Year-Old Rapp Heir

The body will be autopsied to reveal the death's cause. The deceased was twenty one, son of George Rapp, a well known farmer, and was highly esteemed by all.

Outrage Allegation Tangles City Scout’s Family

A11 year old girl reported an attempted assault after leaving school in Bloomingdale. She identified Benjamin P Brown as the man on the sidewalk and later as the alleged assailant. Brown, known as Smith, fled the area after a warrant was issued. He had recently partnered with William Kirtley to run a hotel in Elkbert, and left Kendallville for the city two or three years ago.

Wallin condemned man cheerful before hanging in jail

The condemned man was taken from his cell Friday to Wallin's gallery on Berry street under Deputy Sheriff Frank Hance and Officer Deidrich Meyer. He remained cheerful, telling our reporter he felt fine despite days of illness, posing for two pictures while still in handcuffs. He claimed his religion keeps him oblivious to trials and persecutions.
