Pittsburgh August 21 A Pennsylvanla Railway and Merchants Exchange committee discussed adjusting losses from a strike. An agreement was reached to bring force to Allegheny County, with merchants’ claims to be presented before those of the railroad. Statements are being prepared to show merchants’ losses from destruction and transit delays.
Chicago Aug 21 The Commissioner of Health DeWolt signed an order requiring all adults not successfully vaccinated in ten years and all children aged ten to fifteen to be vaccinated forthwith. The move aims to curb smallpox in affected city areas as cases rise since June.
President Hayes and family toured Brattleboro Vermont where a large crowd greeted them on the platform of G smithie's private car. Hayes spoke warmly of Brattleboro, noting his family's long link to the town and thanking residents for their cordial reception.
The Times reports a pooling agreement between Western Union and Atlantic and Pacific. Keene and Sage transfer 71,000 A P shares to William H.
