Hotel Disaster in Denver Crumbles. Death Toll Mounts

Aug 19 Denver hotels near Larimer and Lawrence streets suffered a devastating explosion at the Gamery hotel, tearing brick and stone from the rear and collapsing a five story section. Dozens are dead or missing, with many guests and staff buried under debris as fire crews fight the ruins and search for survivors through the night.

Horrible accident at Kenzie station on Nickel Flats road

William Fox nine year old son of station agent L Q Fox was struck while attempting to board freight train No 39. He was horribly mutilated, both arms and a leg severed, and died from internal injuries. The boy was beloved by trainmen and local residents. Also reported was Henry Fendorff badly injured at Strudel's saloon after falling during hay loft work. Emily Kleinswith, resident of Webb Place, near the city, lay dying from heatstroke. Miss Kleinworth walked to fetch a lunch and was found unconscious beside the road. George B Stemen attends her.
