James Russell Lowell died at 2 10 this morning in Boston from a liver ailment and other conditions. Born in 1819, he wrote Legend of Brittany and held Harvard professorships, edited Atlantic Monthly and North American Review, published essays and books, served as U S minister to Britain, and was briefly lord rector of St Andrews. After repeated hanging attempts he yielded and led them to the stash, taking $600 before fleeing. A posse pursues two recognized suspects among former neighbors.

Coroner Investigates Death at 39 West Washington Street
Mrs. L M Livingstone aged sixty was found dead in a boarding house room at 39 West Washington Street at 5 30 am. Coroner Kesler was summoned and Miss L A Skully, who shared the room, said Livingstone planned to move to Chicago for dress cutting work. Relatives include two sisters in Ohio and Iowa and two nieces. Her husband is in New York, where she also had funds. The rings and other goods were taken by Miss Skully but later surrendered. Buried arrangements are being made with J O Peltier undertaking establishment. Relatives are being sought by wire.
