Taxables Show Big Increase in Indiana Assessments
Indianapolis Indiana August 2 The state board of tax commissioners estimates total taxables for the current assessment year at about 1 925 000 000 with mortgage exemptions near 55 000 000 an increase of roughly 380 000 000 from last year The mortgage exemption of 700 for each mortgage aims to prevent double taxation and the rising assessables will boost local revenues more than state receipts with a former official noting the state gets 92 cents of every 10 dollars collected excluding the state school fund.
