Death in Fort Wayne hotel linked to laudanum poisoning
Thomas W. Moore was found dead in his room at the Rich hotel in Fort Wayne early Monday after a physician suspected laudanum use. An empty two ounce vial, a pattern of heavy drinking, and a note by his wife in Enid Oklahoma underscore the tragedy while coroners doubt whether the death was accidental or deliberate. Moore, about fifty, lived near Morris chapel and was a traveling salesman in patent rights. He had previously visited Fort Wayne with his wife and two children and left a letter from his wife praying for him to overcome liquor. No post mortem will be performed.
