In Bioourios Illinois 15,000 Knights of Labor held a meeting urging the reinstatement of seven Chicago and Alton road employees discharged for petitioning for higher wages. Speakers urged workers to quit unless the men are reinstated.
Sr. Louis March 26 Thirty Indian children nineteen boys and eleven girls from different semi civilized tribes in the Indian territory passed through last night en route to Fort Wayne and Wabash Ind where they will attend school They all speak English have attended schools in the territory and have progressed through the third or fourth readers.
The steamship West Philadelphia from Hamburg reached New York Harbor with Jeannette survivors Ensign Henry J. Hunt Herbert Wood Lesch James H. Bartlett John Lauterbach and Frank Manson aboard. They will be officially received by Chief Engineer Melville and Navy Yard officers.
In Barrie Creek Michigan on March 27 a man named Johnson, suspecting an affair between his wife and a hired man Fry, bound and gagged Fry and fastened him to a tree. Fry was found two days later unconscious and badly frozen but may recover. Johnson and the wife died.
San Francisco March 27 The executive committee struggles to secure hotel rooms for visiting commanderies as only two hotels Occidental and Leck have agreed to contracts. Other houses plan to offer unlimited capacity on a first come basis. A meeting of the committee and hotel managers is set for today to resolve the arrangements.
Br Louis March 27 report says General Porter disbanded his forces and left few scouts to capture Spiecee and his men fifteen miles west of the Fox agency. Spiochee scouts were shot after refusing to speak, with more killings rumored near Eufaula and Stein’s Pass Arizona as Apaches are said to guard information.

Pesin March 29 report says Count Von Mailath von Szekehly, Ossentian court president, was murdered at his Ofen residence. He was strangled with ropes binding his hands. tongue cut out. A rope dangled from the window. The dwelling was robbed by the murderers.
