Private Albert Cramer World War I Service Recap

Albion Indiana resident Private Albert Cramer son of Mr and Mrs Cramer served fifteen months in France and England. He shipped via Camp Merritt to Liverpool and England front lines including Argonne and rest camps before Germany. He returned home to Camp Taylor June 1 1919 and praised his experiences yet would not repeat them.

Lieut Gaskill Back After War Service

Lieut Robert Gaskill, former head of police and free mail systems in the city, was here yesterday greeting friends after nearly two years away in the expeditionary forces. He served in the Abt field signal battalion guiding a unit at the front and kept communications for the vanguard of the American advance. After the armistice he joined the army of occupation and spent about six months in Germany.

Returnees from France and Army Service Tales Across Indiana

Fort Wayne resident Thomas recently spent about two years in France and visited Warsaw. James Kohler of Leesburg came home after service at Jefferson Barracks and Washington Fork. Mike Partee, discharged at Camp Sherman after a year, plans to reenter the drug business in Hicksville. Millard Dowell of Columbia City returned from army service as a motor mechanic then field artillery, discharged at Camp Taylor. Johnson, formerly in the garage business, sailed in 1918 aboard the Leviathan and survived two submarine attacks. Maurice Perry, Union Township, returned after more than a year in the army in the east. Plus an advertisement for a sale of summer suits.

Fort Wayne to Host Fourth of July Festivities

Fort Wayne merchants prepare for Fourth of July weekend with full stock of comfort and pleasure items for shoppers. Lieutenant Ballard and his Curtiss bomber plane postponed by rain last week will remain in town until July 5 for possible exhibition if weather cooperates. A basket picnic by Trinity English Lutheran Church at Cakeside Park is planned for Saturday at 1 pm, weather permitting.
