Court action filed for damages over motorcycle collision

Ora Me Secrest through his next of kin, George Becrest, filed an action yesterday against John Spidel seeking damages of 5008 dollars. Becrest asserts he was seriously injured August 27 when knocked from the bicycle he rode, due to the defendant's motorcycle and alleged negligence. Hartel and Todd represent the plaintiff.

Sailor Robbers Given Change of Scene

Thomas Filman and Julie Cadis, sailors who held up a house and traveled in a stolen car, are to serve six months at a penal farm instead of the county farm after escaping from Aiton. They were recaptured nearby Kendallville hiding in a car shed.

Remonstrance Against Drainage Tax Filed in Monroe Townships

A remonstrance against drainage taxes was filed in Monroe and Jackson towns with Horley 2. White represented by Colerick & Hagen. Joseph A. Parnin protests a $190.80 assessment plus $3400 on his Monroe land, arguing the amounts are excessive compared with similar properties and that benefits are not commensurate.

Local teacher home from army returns to Wayne schools

W. Thompson formerly manual training teacher at Jefferson School has been discharged from the army and will rejoin Fort Wayne schools. He enlisted in 1918 and spent most of his time at Fort Bayard New Mexico in drafting and reconstruction training with sergeant rank. The Fort Bayard News praises his work.
