Chesterfield Courthouse Sept 7. Prosecutor says no reopening of Beattie case. An anonymous letter writer claims to have witnessed a fatal encounter in a car on a Richmond road. He describes quarrel, threats, and a man returning with an unknown object, while a woman pleads for her lover.
Hartford, Conn Sept 7 President Taft spoke to about 60 000 on the home stretch of Charter Oak track urging establishment of an arbitral court for international disputes. He warned that Senate inaction endangers global peace and warned that without binding arbitration the nation cannot lead the world toward peaceful dispute resolution.
Mrs. J. K. Cecil was chosen president of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society at the First M. E. Church as officers were named for the coming year. Other posts include HB S Gerkin as first vice president and Mrs. Thomas Spaulding as second vice president with Mrs. George Seabold as third vice president. Corresponding secretary is Miss Martha Wohl ord, recording secretary Mrs. W. W. Brown, mite box secretary Mrs. Willard, and the treasurer to be announced at the next meeting. Beulah Binford left Henrico at 11 35 am in an automobile with her baggage heading to Byrd street station where she departed at 8 01 pm for New York amid no public notice or demonstration. She left her mother at the station protesting the plan and refusing to stay.
