Stolen goods recovered after yard theft at Stony Island

A cir af merchandise in Nickel Plate yards at Stony Island was broken into and robbed. Detective Tom Wilkinson arrested the plunderers and they were bound over for trial. Most goods were recovered. Mrs. Austin's Buckwheat is promoted as a healthy breakfast for all ages with a bargain in the Patterson windows.

On the Trail of the Robbers

Davenport Inwa November 22 Police and bloodhounds hunt five armed men who robbed the Rock Island express in the Davenport suburbs. No descriptions are available and reward money ranges from ten thousand to twenty five thousand dollars. Track of robbers pursued by bloodhounds but no tangible leads yet located.

Veteran of Civil War Dies in Fort Wayne Home

Robert Schilling a Civil War veteran with gold mining ties in the West died Saturday night at his sisters’ home on West Washington Street from a complication of diseases. Born near Sandusky City Ohio he moved to Fort Wayne as a boy and served in multiple engagements including Shiloh. After years in Idaho and other mining sites he settled in Fort Wayne about twelve years ago. He never married and is survived by Misses Mary and Katherine Schilling and aunt Mrs. Margaret Krauskopf. Funeral arrangements not yet made.

Wisconsin ore dock fire at Ashland destroys dock and risks lives

A smokey blaze at Ashland Wisconsin destroyed the Wisconsin Central ore dock, with losses around 500000. Firemen and laborers were rescued as flames collapsed the half mile long structure into 20 feet of water. Several hundred workers aided salvage efforts as Murray's saw mill and Mowstt's mill faced danger.

Dillard Kills Two Men Then Takes Own Life

In western Oklahoma on November 8 a deadly confrontation ended with John Dillard fatally shooting Dr. Miller and Joseph Bishop during a mortgage foreclosure dispute over Dillard's property. Mrs Miller restrained her husband during the incident before Dillard killed himself with a rifle trigger shingle.
