In Grand Rapids Michigan on November 1 Milke Ward a Sarnia pugilist died from a cerebral hemorrhage after a ten round bout with Marcy Lewis of Philadelphia. Ward collapsed in the seventh eighth rounds and later died at hospital as doctors reported concussion of the brain. Referee Golran and trainer O'Brien were arrested as authorities prepared a coroner's inquest while Lewis faced scrutiny over the fatal contest.
