In Kansas City two steam fitters died and two others were severely burned when a valve blew in the Schwarz Schild and Salzberger Packing plant water pumping apparatus at Armourdale Kansas. The dead are N M Murphy and J H Russell. The injured are James McMahon and W B Hoover. The accident occurred in a deep pit by the plant’s pumping machinery. Murphy was dead on removal. Russell survived four hours. The injured remain in serious condition with McMahon having slight recovery prospects.
The National Prison Congress in Kansas City heard a sermon by Rev. S M Neal of the city at Central Presbyterian Church. About 309 visitors attended the services and later meetings at Grand Avenue Methodist Church featured addresses by Rev. W A Quarle, General Byinkerboft, and other visiting delegates.
