Victimization by Bogus Drafts Hits Huntington Merchants

A stranger in Huntington passed fraudulent drafts aiming between five and twenty five dollars, found hidden at Kenower lumber yards. Drafts bore the Schnell & Co Bankers name of Niles, and drew on First National Bank Chicago under Charles L. Wood. Merchants reported losses as the con advanced after banking hours, with several local firms victimized.

Chicago Mother Dies With Baby in Arms

Chicago, Nov 5. After mourning for her older daughter, Mary Cels killed her one year old Arma and then committed suicide by asphyxiation. She warned Edna, ten, not to return home from school to avoid interruption. Edna had recently thwarted a prior suicide attempt. Two days earlier Mrs. Cels bought a black dress for Milfia. The two bodies were found in bed with the infant.
