Democratic managers predict a strong turnout and a favorable fall vote as Congressman Robinson seeks a larger margin. In Allen county projections show a majority around 2,200 to 2,500 with strong support from a solid party organization. Cries of murder draw crowd at West Columbia street

A loud cry of murder and fire drew a large crowd to a building on West Columbia Street around midnight. Police and a patrol wagon responded. Mrs Higgins, a renter, suffered a sudden weakness and hysteria, was treated by Dr Crull and sent to hospital with officers.

Insulting remarks spark street assault on Elm to West Main

Louis Hesserakt of Elm street was attacked on West Main by a young man escorting a woman. Sergt Phipps found the assailant after reports that five Republicans attacked him, injuring him. A number of insulted passersby were involved. an affidavit may be filed.

Spanish steamer St Regulus sinks after collision

The Spanish steamer Enero from Huelva, under Captain Delgado, collided with the St Regulus at Dungeness Friday night. Of the Encro crew of 32, all but three perished. Captain McMullen and Jim Shields of Alexandria were aboard as the other sailors reported.

St Pierre Devastated by Fire in November Blaze

Destructive conflagration struck St Pierre Migueloc last night, destroying homes and key buildings including government offices the church and presbytery. No loss of life reported though the town faces a far reaching financial loss estimated at around a catlion dollars. Poor water supply and inadequate fire equipment hindered efforts. The town has burned previously in 1863 1887 and 1901.

Big Park for Eaton at Eaton Park outlined

The Muncie Gartford and Fort Wayne Traction company plans to acquire land east of Eaton park formerly used as a ball ground. They aim to convert it into a summer outing resort with improved grounds and added attractions. Special park cars will serve the area, boosting Eaton as a recreation center. The deal is imminent, with rapid steps toward completion in two weeks.

Lost Eye On Golf Links In Boston Incident

In Boston on November 3 a distressing accident at the Country Club golf links left Herbert Jacknes with the loss of his left eye. A Royal Montreal club member, forty yards away, struck him with a Wall from behind a clump of bushes as Jacknes prepared to drive from the first tee. The optic nerve was paralyzed and the eye had to be removed.

Serious Collision on the New York Central

A fatal and a serious injury occurred in a New York Central collision west of Schenectady on November 2. A second train derailed the locomotive, caboose, and three freight cars after losing control on caution orders. Fireman and conductor survived. brakeman died. Preacher Swindled in Milton Investment Scheme

Rev. T. M. McClurg of Milton Indiana reported to police that he was swindled out of 3500 by Edward Lawrence and J Thomas who posed as CF H Thomas & Co investment brokers in New York. Their office opened on the seventh floor of the Law building but closed after three weeks leaving mortgages on fixtures. Lawrence and Thomas fled North Illinois street boarding house the day the office closed. Thomas reportedly disposed of 100 before leaving the city.

In Waukesha county on November 2 George Brervers, 21, shot and killed Todt Bowers and then attempted to kill his mother at the Bowers homestead near Pewaukee. Mrs. Bowers escaped to a neighbor’s. In Coleman Peter Grant shot and killed his wife, then killed himself at the Griver Inn, the tragedy attributed to domestic trouble and followed by gunfire in the barn.

Interurban line nearing Montpelier city limits

From Muncie to Montpelier the new interurban line to the town is near completion. Graders are within three miles of the city limits and track laying is underway. A large force is at the sub-station installing the switchboard for the Muncie Bartfard and Fort Wayne line.
