Tariff Commission Farce and Political Stalemate
Special to Indianapolis News by Washington observers condemn the tariff commission as a farce. They argue that Senate and House resolutions authorizing inquiries into the tariff war will not prompt real investigations before the election. Leaders who pushed the regulations have not planned inquiries or hearings by the Ways and Means or Finance committees. The expectation is that no substantial investigation will occur prior to the next session.
