Metropolitan Engineering and Construction company, represented by Major Wilson, reported to the Board of Public Works that it will bid with the latest asphalt plant and machinery on the four asphalt pavement contracts and for smaller jobs as petitions are acted upon. Mayor Mossy and the board considered plans to waterproof the city reservoir with cement and interior planking, costing several thousand dollars and needing about two weeks. August Govrs began planting in Lawton park as part of landscape improvements. a petition signed by two homeowners for paving Sixth Street with Ariel asphalt was presented for bid.
The Rossis Mr Rise and Nbank Stender of this city will leave for Lafayette in the morning to meet the Western Vaudeville Association and discuss a site for the erection of a theater.
Local dispute centers on competing theater ownership as Lafayette faces a push by Gratz & Haylin and the Western Vaudeville Association to establish an Orpheum venue. Fort Wayne operators, led by Mr Stouder and associates, claim the move undermines their long effort to build the regional theater circuit. Plans for the new venue, to be erected by Stair Haylin Rice and Stonfler, were announced yesterday.

A painter named Clark from Blumton and a fellow worker employed by Mr. Frank Woodward toppled fifteen feet from a broken scaffold at the Treespit mills corner of Supt Thor and Clinton yesterday afternoon. Clark struck the ground on his side. the other man was also injured.

To taxpayers the county board of review will meet in the county courthouse on Monday June 1 1908 at 10am to review correct and equalize property assessments and hear grievances. Warsaw Indiana May 18 Special to the Journal Gazette The First Baptist church has sent Rev B E Truman as delegate to the Baptist National Convention in Oklahoma City from May 20 to May 27. Delegates from the region will travel by Baptist train via Chicago and the Santa Fe route.
The Oakland quartet will present a concert and reception Thursday evening in the Dive civb rooms on the east side. The program features works by Brand, Titet, and others with piano accompaniment. Performers include Miss Ruth Andere and Miss Chinds Certerma, with Roger Poor and a cornet solo.
