Maxim Unveils Safe Detonating Fuse and Stabilite Powder

New York March 22 Huston Maxim inventor of high explosives announced at a Canadian Club dinner a new safety detonating fuse that can pierce armor and detonate at a precise distance behind it. He also introduced stabilite a powder that does not decompose like ordinary powder. He warned of US unpreparedness and coastal defenselessness in a potential war with Japan.

Bank to Open in New Haven By July First

W R Hartzell of New Haven has closed a deal for the Dr Clark drug store building to house a new bank. A large hall will be installed after Clark vacates. The bank is expected to open by July 1 with Strang brothers or Nex Hove capitalists as potential partners. Dr Clark will move to the prior A I Schnelker corner brick building.

Bronson dominated with scientific, agile fighting while Bartley showed resilience. the bout was close, with Bartley unsteady at the end and Bronson appearing strongest throughout. Ohio River flood causes widespread damage across Indiana towns

A flood report from Evansville Indiana notes the Ohio River peaking at the city and likely to recede by Sunday. The Wabash River rises rapidly downstream with extensive loss of corn and wheat crops and substantial stock drownings. Damage is reported below Mount Carmel and New Harmony.

Speaker Cannon and party leave cards in Jamaica visit

In Kingston Jamaica Secretary Metcalf and Speaker Cannon arrived aboard the Birecher and left cards at Swettenham’s headquarters. Cannon and party, with William H. Orritt American vice consul, toured the burned area and expressed concern over the catastrophe as the Birecher sailed for Calon.

Gambler shoots down Raiders in Fort Worth raid

Fort Worth Texas March 22. After raiding an alleged gaming house County Attorney Jo D McLean was shot and killed. William Thompson proprietor of the resort was shot in a desperate fight in a lumber yard. Hamil P Scott a raiding party member was fatally wounded. Thompson was later captured, likely to die from his wounds. McLean had led numerous raids against gambling.

Garrett Surgeon Sues Over Interurban Injury

Dr Franklin Rodenbaugh, a veterinary surgeon of Garrett, sues the Toledo and Chicago Interurban Railway for 215 007 damages in Auburn Circuit Court. He was injured when trolley arm fasteners failed at Garrett depot while preparing to board a car to Fort Wayne. He suffered head injuries and spent weeks hospitalized.

Garrett Ind March 2 The Garrett volunteer fire department plans its annual ball at Wagner's hall on Eastern Monday with local guests and musicians from nearby towns expected. County officials say arrangements were made in Angola to host the event and a large attendance is anticipated.

Death at Garrett claims prominent local minister

Mrs. Stewart, widow of minister Mes. Thom MW. Stewart, aged 83, dies at her Garrett home after long infirmities. Survived by three sons, J. Stewart of Kenfallyna, A. J. Stewart of Garrett, and Dr. C. S. Stewart of Aula. Funeral set for Sunday at 2:30 at the Garrett Baptist church. she was known as a devout Christian praised by many.
