Longtime Port Wayne resident Harvey Stouder dies at 93
Harvey Jmed Stouder, famed as one of the oldest men in Port Wayne and Allen County, died at 9:15 Saturday night at his daughter’s home on Wayne Street at age 93. The paralysis onset ten days earlier made recovery unlikely. He attributed longevity to abstaining from beer and tobacco and never using strong tobacco. Born November 1, 1813 in Fairfield County Ohio, he moved to White County Indiana, then Allen County in 1831, worked in farming and later retired. He was a 40 year member of the Methodist Episcopal church and active in church work until ill health. Surviving relatives include his brother Solomon S. Stouder of a nearby township, daughter Mrs Currents, 8 grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2, at Curr? with Rev. Mr. Hots officiating.
