Blind Tiger Raided in Mentone by Sheriff

Sheriff Charles Kintvel served a search warrant in Mentone and found thirty six bottles of beer and two empty barrels at Frank Newell home. The beer was transported to Warsaw and held as evidence against Newell.

Kendallville Fair to Rebuild Barns and Sheds

Kendallville Ind June 27. The Kendallville Fair association committee completed arrangements for new barns and cattle sheds to replace structures burned earlier. Attic barns will be near the sheep sheds in the grove, speed horse barns in the grove’s southeast, and salvage sheds will host horses and stock. all buildings to be painted white.

Officers Seek Dry Law Violations in Howe area

Sheriff John Todd and Deputy Charles Aliinick searched the premises of Jas Large and James A Taylor in Howe on a warrant from Justice Cather. Four beer kegs were found in James Large’s barn. Large, a drummer, claimed the beer was shipped for country residents and stored for pickup. The booze will be held until rightful ownership is proven. Rev Huffman indicated he would not press further unless another party takes up the matter.
