Public improvements banned in Wabash county during war

Wabash county commissioners on the second day of June meetings adopted a resolution halting nonessential public improvements until the war ends. Urgent health or welfare projects may proceed with a citizen majority request. New constables were appointed for the Union Horse Thief Detective association, and reports were due next month. The court reorganized a board of children’s guardians, and the board of review set a schedule for township complaints. Several arrests related to a Coop & Lent circus occurred, with payments made for a charged board bill. A 74-year-old woman died in Ohio from paralysis, and others were noted including local residents traveling, military assignments, and a wedding in Louisville.

Women Registering Amid Strong Local Interest

Lively participation in the city and county drive to register women. County warden Mrs. Benard Wisnn notes growing enthusiasm, with many reporting full completion in some districts and lines at schools and courthouses.
