Polar Bear Nurses Stray Dog Bond at Bronx Zoo
A lonely polar bear named Doctor Nansen befriended a stray Bronx dog after weeks of isolation. The bear shared meat, played gently, and later slept beside the canine, prompting keeper Dick Spicer to plan adoption of the dog. Swallows nesting nearby drew no interest from the bear.
