Capitol Graft Trials Begin with Separate Huston Trial

Harrisburg January 27 The opening day of the capitol graft prosecutions centered on the Commonwealth agreeing to a separate trial for Architect Joseph Huston. Prosecutors opposed separate trials for Huston’s four codefendants, and the court overruled those motions. The day mainly covered jury selection, not substantial evidence, while rumors swirled Huston might become a state’s witness. The court completed juror selection late in the afternoon.

Predominant Bills At Temple Feature Physical Culture Act

The Belleleice brothers, old Fort Wayne favorites, performed several new acrobatic feats, including a remarkable springboard leap. Yumath appeared in a full German soldier uniform, a mechanical, automatonlike act. Willned Hand & Co. presented The Battle of Bunco Bil, a travesty of army life, to good reception. Sutherland and Curtis offered no singing, while Charles Brown delivered songs that surpassed his earlier performances. The Sinodrome closed the program with a strong finish.
