Port Wayne political struggles and press critique emerge
A fragmentary 19th century political piece critiques journalistic ethics and the Republican push to shift leadership from William J. Bryan. It mentions Port Wayne figures, municipal heating schemes, underground transit deals, and criticisms of the Chronicle. The text mixes political contention with local civic actions and alleged press complicity.
Debates Over Bryan and Roosevelt Echo in Democratic Ranks
The piece argues for William Jennings Bryan as the rightful Democratic nominee, praising his leadership and anti‑trust stance while noting opposition based on fear. It compares Bryan’s 1896 doctrines to Roosevelt’s 1907 policies and claims the party should rally behind Bryan to avoid fragmentation.
